This place is poor value for the money. They are charging high rates for a very basic level of accommodation. The public rooms are scruffy, and smell of damp and stale cooking. The mattress is very hard. There are no coffee and tea making materials in the room, no soap or hair conditioner in the bathroom and the remote for adjusting the thermostat is not charged. Complimentary coffee and tea are supposed to be available from 7 a.m. (which is far too late for an early riser like me) but were not in evidence even then. The breakfast has the usual mixture of eggs, bacon, ham, cereal, a bit of fruit, yogurt, etc. but only supermarket bread for toast, no muffins, croissants or other breakfast pastries. Tea is made with hot water and tea bags. I did not attempt the coffee. However the bedrooms are clean and it's in a pretty, convenient location.

UPDATE! Please see Owner's response calling me a racist. BEWARE! LOOK ELSEWHERE!! Also, the website pictures are false advertising. There is no nice table settings, etc. SECOND UPDATE: OWNER deleted their awful response. People stay in BnBs to support local. Local charm is important and those who choose to stay in this historic landmark home expect the charm related to that period with current amenities. This home is dated and looks it in a bad way. The current owners do not appear to be investing in it's beauty and historic charm. One thing that catches your eye in a negative way is cultural decor that doesnt fit with a Canadian 1900s house. If you are going to have an old historic home, please stick to its decor for that time period. It was just weird seeing random artwork and decor that doesn't match. Soft instrument music is definitely needed during breakfast as the vibe and energy felt stale and cold. Check in was just ok but very little interaction with the host. Pleasant young man but very disengaged. Again, it's a BnB and most people want a warm welcome and chat about recommendations on local places to visit, etc. On the entry of our room, we were pleased with what we saw. It is spacious and the bathroom was huge. Unfortunately, there was no toilet paper on the roll and none in the cabinet. We had to request it. Strange. The jacuzzi is a lovely sight and we were excited. We used it and half the jets don't work and it drains quickly even when plugged. It was disappointing to say the least. When we got to the room, we went to turn the lamp on but it wouldn't turn on. Come to find out, it wasn't plugged in and the plug was on the floor behind the bed, no extension cord, so my husband had to get down on his knees to plug it in. It was very dusty behind the bed. There were only wooden dining table chairs to sit in in the room. Would be better to put a more comfortable chair. The bed was very comfortable. The pillows were awful but we brought our own. There are no pillow protectors on the pillows which I find totally disgusting. There should be pillow protectors. Breakfast was good. It was simple. Don't expect a restaurant style breakfast but it's included with your stay. OK, the packets of jam have to go! You are a local BNB, please get LOCAL jam to support LOCAL. Same with coffee! Again, people are looking for LOCAL charm. The exterior -- needs significant attention! Massive yard clean up, get rid of junk and make it more inviting. The bowl of cigarette butts on the table on the front porch puts a really sour taste. The exterior of the house needs some work. We pay to stay in a nice well-kept house, not something that looks dumpy. The mini split in the room needs immediate attention. There is something wrong with it and it is VERY loud and not working properly. Please maintenance your mini splits ASAP before someone else stays in the suite. The fan vent in the bathroom needs cleaned as well, it is very dusty and gross. There is ample free parking which was nice. The noise level was minimum which was nice. Didn't hate our stay but didn't love it. Would we stay there again? No. Not unless there is some major changes. Location was lovely as this is historic Fredericton area. Wifi worked well.

Being a prairie boy I love the history out here on the East coast and this house is full of it! In addition to a glimpse of life 100+ years ago you also gain a little insight into the maintenance required to keep it habitable. I was shocked at how quiet the floors were given their age. Everything was nice and clean and the heat pump in my room let me set the perfect temperature for my best nights sleep.
