I specifically booked with the master stylist DAN because he claimed Vidal Sassoon training and experience with precision cutting. I went in explaining that I had just had a disappointing bob haircut elsewhere and was very clear about the look I wanted: a polished geometric bob with a strong perimeter and soft beveled-under shape similar to the reference photos I showed him. Instead of approaching the correction carefully, he flat ironed my hair and cut essentially the entire haircut dry. He told me that if I didn’t want significantly more length removed, this was how he would make it look more like the photo. I also specifically stated that I did NOT want point cutting or excessive texturizing because I wanted to preserve the clean shape and weight of the bob. He argued that point cutting was necessary to create the bevel on the ends. As someone who has gone to the Vidal Sassoon salon in NYC for years, this experience did not resemble classic precision cutting methodology at all. The haircut lost the clean perimeter and structured shape I specifically asked for and instead became overly softened and texturized. What made the experience especially frustrating was the defensiveness and attitude when I questioned the technique. Rather than listening to my concerns, he insisted this was “how Vidal cuts,” are done, which felt misleading given the result. I left feeling unheard and disappointed after spending $160 on what was supposed to be a precision correction cut. If you are looking for a true structured bob with classic geometric shape and controlled weight, I would strongly recommend asking extremely detailed questions before booking.
